Network Telemetry Car to Cloud to pit to engineer.

GBC’s network architecture keeps you connected wherever the track takes you. We prioritize WiFi for the primary link between your mobile devices and the dual-chip Black Box because it delivers the superior bandwidth and low latency required for rich, real-time telemetry streaming — live wing angles, lap timing, dashboards, and multi-user Race Engineer updates. Bluetooth serves as a convenient low-power option for quick pairing and basic monitoring, but WiFi excels when you need robust, high-frequency data flow across the paddock or while on track.

A dedicated local WiFi access point (SSID: Gulf_Blue_Concepts) provides low-latency paddock-side access, while Cellular LTE/5G offers true remote operation with intelligent failover — automatically switching paths in under 200ms with no reconnection needed. To ensure zero data loss, the Black Box intelligently buffers every telemetry sample locally on the Micro SD card at full resolution. When connectivity returns, queued data replays seamlessly to the cloud or your devices. Secure, reliable, and built for the demands of real racing.

Live data, every lap.

GBC’s Black Box employs a robust, intelligent failover system that seamlessly switches between local WiFi and Cellular LTE/5G to maintain uninterrupted connectivity. The device continuously monitors both radios (active/active routing) using health probes and signal metrics. When WiFi signal degrades (e.g., due to distance, interference, or paddock congestion), traffic automatically reroutes over cellular in under 200ms with minimal disruption.

This failover is application-aware: critical real-time telemetry (lap timing, wing angle, alerts) receives priority, while less urgent data is queued intelligently. To guarantee zero data loss, the system buffers every telemetry sample locally on the Micro SD card at full resolution. Upon reconnection, queued packets replay automatically to the cloud or pit wall dashboard — ensuring complete session records even during brief outages.

The architecture supports global LTE/5G bands with configurable SIM options and compression techniques to keep cellular data usage low. This design provides true remote operation (monitor, update, and stream from anywhere with coverage) while prioritizing the low-latency WiFi experience when trackside. It’s reliable, resilient, and purpose-built for the unpredictable environment of the racetrack.

· 01 ·

Compressed data

Telemetry packets are quantized and delta-encoded. A typical session uses a fraction of the bandwidth of raw streaming, so cellular plans last longer.

· 02 ·

Offline buffering

When connectivity drops, the Black Box keeps writing to local storage. The moment a radio comes back, queued samples replay to the broker — nothing missed.

· 03 ·

Per-channel rates

Most channels stream at 5 Hz. Critical state changes — Race1 arming, mode transitions — push as events the moment they happen.

Built for Team Management.

Every Black Box can publish telemetry to a single MQTT broker — yours or ours. Compare drivers in real time, replay the session later, push commands back to any car on the grid.

    Compare drivers in real time

Watch wing angles, throttle, and lap deltas across every car at once. Spot setup differences live.

  • 02

    Push commands to the grid

Update parameters or arm Race1 mode for any car from a single console. No paddock visit required.

  • 03

    Self-host or use ours

Bring your own MQTT broker, or publish to the GBC managed cloud. Both speak the same protocol.

  • 04

    Replay every session

Telemetry is archived per session, addressable by car and timestamp. Compare yesterday's lap with today's.
